QR menus and QR payments explained

A QR code is a way to open a link. What that link opens determines whether guests can read a menu, place an order or pay a bill.

A menu link opens the menu

A QR menu gives guests a way to view food, drinks and prices on their phone. A menu might be a document or an interactive page; the QR code itself does not determine its features.

Showing a menu does not, by itself, mean the system can retrieve the table’s bill, split it or accept payment. Those are separate capabilities to check when evaluating a restaurant system.

A payment link opens a bill

In Mashy’s pay-at-table flow, the table’s QR code opens the guest bill experience. Guests can choose items, split equally or pay the available balance, then review checkout.

The guest experience supports Arabic and English, with an optional tip. Opening a QR menu and settling a bill are different tasks, even if both start with the phone’s camera.

Keep ordering and payment clear

Pay at table starts with a bill for the meal. Ordering from a phone adds a separate step in which guests choose what to order.

The Mashy sample on this page demonstrates pay at table. Trying it does not place an order, charge a card or connect to your restaurant’s POS.

Questions to ask before choosing a system

Use the sample bill to explore the guest interface, then bring these questions to a demo of your restaurant’s setup.

  • Does the QR code open a menu, a bill or an ordering flow?
  • How does the guest’s bill reach the payment screen, and how are changes handled?
  • Can guests pay for selected items or split equally?
  • What will guests and staff see after one person pays part of the bill?
  • Has compatibility with your current POS and payment setup been confirmed?

Explore it for your restaurant.

Leave your name, mobile number and restaurant name. We’ll discuss your setup during the demo.
